The Northern Lites Synchronized Skating Club is dedicated to furthering the sport of synchronized skating for all Skate Canada Members. We put an emphasis on sportsmanship, fun, fitness and achievement at all ages and skill levels.
Our HistoryThe Northern Lites Synchronized Skating Club has been operating in the Edmonton area since 1982. Starting with just one team, Northern Lites is proud to now be one of the largest synchronized skating clubs in Western Canada. The club manages seven skating teams, giving opportunities for skaters ages 4 and up with all levels and abilities to skate as part of a synchronized skating team. There are approximately 100 skaters from Edmonton and surrounding regions skating with Northern Lites. Northern Lites prides itself on having some of the best coaches in the skating industry and is continually bringing in guest coaches from the top synchronized skating teams in the world. Northern Lites is proud to have hosted the first 'Northern Classic Invitational Precision Competition' in February 1997. The success of this competition resulted in Skate Canada awarding the first-ever 'Western Canadians Synchronized Skating Championships' to the Northern Lites in February 1998. Northern Lites teams compete annually in Western Canadian competitions held in such centers as Calgary, Camrose, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Vancouver. The top teams from the Mountain Regionals competition qualify to compete at 'Nationals', which is held in major center in Canada.
